Il Porcospino - Gastronomical home from home
Warm, welcoming, always good wholesome food - during the tourist season the "terrazzo" on the pavement is mainly occupied by visiting tourists, mainly americans, inside more local visitors - can be difficult to get a table at times during high season. [Read more]

Lo Skipper - Hidden Sicilian treasure!
I was surprised to have such a great Sicilian dinner and pay "il giusto." I enjoyed the tasty seafood dishes and tasted everyone else's dishes, which were fantastic. The desserts were a treat as well and served with a different liqueur for each one. I will certainly return soon! [Read more]

Extremely nice family staff with quiet and romantic setting. You'll get everything from Korean, Thai, Chinese, and Japanese on the menu. Since it has everything, it's the jack of all trades but ace of none. It will quench the miso- soup craving at great prices for Florence standards. [Read more]

Finisterrae - Alice in Wonderlandish
I usually pick and fall in love with those pocked sized dinging places. This is not one of them. Finisterrae is a large restaurant with room after room after room of fairytalishness. Even the restroom is saga, and when eating here (although of course not in the restroom!) I feel like grabbing hold of the whole decorating concept and bring it with me in my backpack. To eat at Finisterrae is, for me, first hand an magical experience interior wise. The food and wine is secondary - but for that sake not at all bad! So. Finisterrae is a place to pick and fall in love with - despite it's size XL. [Read more]

Il Pizzaiuolo - Stressed staff members
The pizzas here are good, but not fantastic. What I liked most about my evening at Il Pizzaiuolo was our little table on the cobblestoned street outside. I liked being part of the lukewarm velvety summer evening air and to feel as if sitting in the heart of Florence. Unfortunatelley, the thing that stuck out almost even more was the very stressed and non friendly service we received. Our grumpy waitress will make me think twice before coming back here. On the other hand...the location is nice and the pizzas are good and plenty. [Read more]

Gusta Pizza - Fresh

Mama's Bakery - Delicious bagels and desserts!
This is a great spot - the service is friendly and you can sit and read the American newspaper while enjoying a fresh bagel with cream cheese or jam. I have also seen people eat a good looking quiche. I always make a habit of taking home some of their cookies which are excellent and occasionally a dessert like their key lime pie. All are really good. The only thing I wish is that you could get a real cappucino instead of just American coffee, but those bagels are worth skipping the espresso for! [Read more]
