This project was developed when I was searching for a new restaurant to go to. Like most people, I went to the Internet and found an overwhelming amount of information. I found some reviews for the restaurant I was looking at: some were favorable while others were not so favorable. In the end, I had to go to many of the restaurants I had heard about and decide for myself.

I quickly realized that I had to eat at a restaurant a few times before having an opinion because I couldn't taste all of the dishes that I wanted to.

I found the same was true for the gelaterie in town. Many of my local friends and I discussed the best gelateria, and ended up realizing that it depended on what flavor you ordered. There were a few places that had great creamy gelati while others made fantastic fruity ones.

I don't believe that reviews can replace testing out a restaurant, gelateria, pasticceria, but I do believe that if you trust one person's opinion about a few of their reviews, you might be able to trust the other ones for the places you haven't yet been.

I am lucky enough to live in Florence and eat out as often as I can (and afford), but I do understand that many people who come to visit have few meals that they will be able to enjoy during their visit. So why risk picking a random restaurant when you can select it by perusing the reviews written up by tourists and locals alike.

Enjoy dining in Florence,
Melinda Gallo.

Gratitude

As with any project, it is never done without the help of others. I would like to thank the following people for their support and assistance: Dave Batton, Erin Sloan, and Marco Papacchini. Without their eye for detail, technical input, and helpful spirits, this website wouldn't exist.
